1Wisdom guarded to the end the first formed father of the world, that was created alone, Gr. She. 2And gave him strength to get dominion over all things. 3But when an unrighteous man fell away from her in his anger, 4And when for his cause the earth was drowning with a flood, 5Moreover, when nations consenting together in wickedness had been confounded, Wisdom knew the righteous man, and preserved him blameless to God, Gr. She 6While the ungodly were perishing, wisdom delivered a righteous man, Gr. she Pentapolis. That is, the region of the five cities. 7To whose wickedness a smoking waste still witnesseth, Yes and a disbelieving soul has a memorial Or, distrustful there, a pillar of salt still standing. 8For having passed wisdom by, for Or, by their life human life a monument of their folly; where they Gr. wherein. went astray they might fail even to be unseen: Gr. stumbled. 9But wisdom delivered out of troubles those that waited on her. 10When a righteous man was a fugitive from a brother’s wrath, wisdom guided him in straight paths; Gr. she. 11When in their covetousness men dealt hardly with him, 12She guarded him from enemies, all. Gr. every one. 13When a righteous man was sold, wisdom forsook him not, Gr. she. from sin she delivered him; Or, from the sin of his kindred... into a pit 14And in bonds she left him not, 15Wisdom delivered a holy people and a blameless seed from a nation of oppressors. Gr. she. 16She entered into the soul of a servant of the Lord, 17She rendered to holy men a reward of their toils; 18She brought them over the Red sea, 19But their enemies she drowned, 20Therefore the righteous plundered the ungodly; 21Because wisdom opened the mouth of the dumb,
