Job 14

1Man, who is born of woman, 2He sprouts from the ground like a flower and is cut down; 3Do you look at any of these? 4Who can bring something clean out of something unclean? No one. 5Man's days are determined. 6Look away from him that he may rest, 7There can be hope for a tree; 8Though its root grows old in the earth, 9yet even if it only smells water, it will bud 10But man dies; he becomes weak; 11As water disappears from a lake, 12so people lie down and do not rise again. 13Oh, that you would hide me away in Sheol away from troubles, 14If a man dies, will he live again? 15You would call, and I would answer you. 16You would number and care for my footsteps; 17My transgression would be sealed up in a bag; 18But even mountains fall and come to nothing; 19the waters wear down the stones; 20You always defeat him, and he passes away; 21If his sons are honored, he does not know it;
