And if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.

James 1:5

**On the Gift of Wisdom** There is something breathtaking in the recognition that the God who fashioned the cosmos from nothing invites us — small, stumbling, uncertain creatures — to simply *ask* for wisdom, as a child asks a father for bread. He does not grant it grudgingly, measuring out only what we deserve, but pours it forth with the lavish generosity of One who has an inexhaustible ocean to give. Notice too that He does not remind us of how many times we have ignored His counsel before — there is no ledger of our foolishness held against us, no reproach in His eyes, only welcome. This is not merely practical advice about decision-making; it is an invitation into intimacy with the very Mind that orders all things. To pray for wisdom is to confess our need and trust His abundance — and in that very act of asking, we have already begun to become wise.
